Global Graphics offers a range of profiles
and plug-ins that are supplied with Jaws PDF Creator®
for the pre-press markets.
Plug-ins provide additional functionality during the PDF
creation process for validating PDF files so that they conform
to Industry Standards, such as PDF/X. Additionally, pre-defined
PDF configuration profiles are provided to facilitate standardized
best practice PDF creation. Use Jaws PDF Creator to conform
to industry standards and best practices and make your PDF
output more predictable.
With Jaws PDF Creator you get:
- A wide range of pre-press plug-ins
- Ghent PDF Workgroup (GWG) best practice profiles and plug-ins
for creating GWG approved PDF output
- PDF/X plug-ins

product when it is installed).
Pre-press plug-ins
A number of pre-press plug-ins have been made available with
Jaws PDF Creator so that you can create or validate specific
types of PDF files that conform to Industry standards or specifications.
These include graphic arts specific functionality, workflow
features and configuration profiles.
Ghent PDF Workgroup (GWG) profiles and plug-ins for
approved output
The Ghent PDF Workgroup plug-ins are a subset of the provided
pre-press plug-ins. When ALL of them are used together with
Jaws PDF Creator v4.0 they produce GWG compliant PDF output
files that are considered 'best practice' in the graphic arts
workflows in which they are designed to be used. Jaws PDF
Creator v4.0 supports GWG v2 (2004) and GWG v3 (2005) profiles.
The Ghent PDF Workgroup, formed in June 2002, is an international
assembly of industry associations and suppliers from across
Europe and the United States. Its objective is to establish
and disseminate process specifications for best practices
in graphic arts workflows. Members comprise graphic arts associations
in Belgium, The Netherlands, France, Switzerland, Denmark,
Italy, Austria, The United Kingdom and the United States,
as well as observer-status organizations from Sweden, Norway

PDF/X
PDF/X standards make PDF output more predictable by defining
restrictions on the format and settings of PDF files. PDF/X
plug-ins that come with Jaws PDF Creator v4.0 allow you to
create PDF/X-1a:2001 and PDF/X-3:2002 files.
GWG approved profiles define configurations that compliment
PDF/X output. When GWG profiles are used with Jaws PDF Creator
they reduce the chance of failure when producing PDF/X compliant
files.
